We will shortly be seeking nominations from Parents or Carers of pupils, at Stanhope Primary School, to fill 2 vacancies which we have for Parent Governors. Our new Parent Governors must be strong communicators and will be able to bring at least one of the following skills to strengthen the Governing Board:
• Marketing and PR
• Legal skills
• Data Analysis
• Social Skills
• Strategic thinking
The Governing Board is made up of 11 Governors, 2 of whom are Parents. As a Parent Governor, elected by your fellow parents, your role would be to bring a parental perspective to our decision making, but not to represent parents.
Before we ask for formal nominations, the Chair/Vice-Chair would welcome the opportunity to meet with any Parents or Carers who may be interested in putting their names forward so that they may explain the role of a Parent Governor and the likely time commitment.
The Governing Board meets in the evenings, at least five times a year. Additionally, there may be meetings about Resources (finance and all things related) and Standards and Achievements. In addition, Governors must be prepared to visit the school, at least termly, to monitor strategically and observe policy in action either in the classroom, the playground or in and around the school, generally.
If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a Parent Governor, please contact , Sandra Scott, Clerk to the Governing Board, by email: firstname.lastname@example.org before Friday 1st February, so that we may arrange a mutually convenient time for you to meet with the Chair or Vice Chair of Governors and the Head Teacher.
