Updates to Our RSHE Curriculum
At Stanhope Primary School, we want to make sure our children have the skills they need to grow up happily and safely. Ahead of the government's September 2026 deadline, schools across England are updating their Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) curriculum. These updates do not change our school's core values. Instead, they give us a modern, age-appropriate framework to help our pupils navigate the modern world safely.
The main changes focus on three areas: digital safety, emotional wellbeing, and personal safety. In school, this means we will be doing more work on helping children manage "big feelings" like frustration and worry. We will also focus heavily on online safety—teaching older children about age limits on apps, privacy, and how to spot hidden costs or scams in video games. As part of our standard safeguarding practice, we will also continue to teach children the correct names for body parts so they have the right words to keep themselves safe.
