Detailed information about our curriculum will be sent out each half term. We welcome ideas from parents about our topic. We are looking forward to a great year, which is being kick started with the topic 'The Titanic'. This is a historical topic that looks back at the history of the ship.

Handwriting is a core skill best taught by demonstration. At Stanhope we teach our pupils using the Nelson Handwriting Scheme as it helps develop fine motor skills, cursive handwriting and increases visual perceptual skills.

While handwriting is a major focus in Year 2 it is always a good idea to practise at home. Take a look at the link to find some free handwriting worksheets so you can practise with your child at home:

Maths Passports

In year 2 we follow the Africa passports. Pupils will start with North Africa, moving to Africa and completing the year in South Africa. Each pupil was given a printout of the Africa test expectations at the end of Summer 2.
